How The Missing Tail Wiki handles analytics choices, local storage, server logs, email, and third-party links.

Last updated September 3, 2026

Overview

The Missing Tail Wiki is designed to work without an account. You can read guides and use the co-op planner without submitting personal information. This policy explains the limited data that may be processed when you visit the site, choose optional analytics, follow an external link, or send an email.

Necessary local storage

The site stores your analytics choice in your browser under mtw-analytics-consent. This remembers whether you selected “Accept analytics” or “Necessary only” so the consent notice does not interrupt every page. The interactive co-op planner works in the page and does not create an account. You can reopen Cookie settings in the footer or clear site data in your browser.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics is loaded only after you select “Accept analytics.” If enabled, it may process information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from an IP address, device and browser characteristics, referring page, and interaction timing. The site requests IP anonymization and does not intentionally send names, email addresses, or game account details to analytics.

If you choose “Necessary only,” the Analytics script is not loaded by this site's consent code. You can change your choice from the footer. Google's handling of data is governed by Google's own privacy terms and controls.

Hosting logs and security

The site is hosted through Cloudflare. Like most web infrastructure providers, Cloudflare may process short-lived request information—including IP address, requested URL, user agent, timestamp, and security signals—to deliver pages, prevent abuse, and diagnose reliability problems. Those infrastructure records are managed under the provider's applicable policies and retention settings.

External media and links

The trailer initially appears as a locally hosted thumbnail. A YouTube player is created only after you press Play; at that point your browser connects to YouTube and Google's terms apply. Links to the official site, Steam, Discord, PlayStation, Xbox, and other services take you to sites with their own privacy practices.

Email

If you email contact@themissingtail.wiki, the message, address, headers, and information you include are processed to respond and maintain the site. Do not send passwords, payment details, government identifiers, or other unnecessary sensitive information. Relevant correspondence may be retained for follow-up, security, attribution, or legal records and deleted when it is no longer needed.

Advertising and children

Google AdSense advertising is not active in the site's initial release. If Google ads are enabled, Google and other third-party vendors may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. Google's advertising cookies can be used to show ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site or other sites. Visitors can manage personalized advertising in Google's My Ad Center, and eligible visitors will be shown the legally required advertising consent choices before optional ad storage is used.

Any other advertising vendor will be disclosed here with a link to its privacy and opt-out information before its code is enabled. The site does not ask visitors to click ads or trade a reward for ad interaction. This general-audience fan guide is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect children's personal information through accounts or forms.

Your choices and contact

You can decline optional analytics, clear browser storage, avoid loading the embedded player, and avoid external links. For a privacy question or request, use the contact page. Laws differ by location; where an applicable law grants access, correction, deletion, objection, or complaint rights, we will evaluate a properly scoped request.
